SRK, Kajol win best actor & Karan the best Director of Filmfare Award for the film "MNIK"

Shah Rukh Khan, the heartthrob of millions of bollywood lovers, won his eighth best actor trophy for Karan Johar’s magnum opus ‘My Name Is Khan at the glittering fifty-sixth Filmfare awards function.

Kajol, who played the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the same film, also got the best actor award in female category. Karan Johar, the ace filmmaker and a close friend of King Khan, received the award for best direction of the same flick.

It may be recalled that ‘My Name is Khan’ is a sensitive film which talked about universal brotherhood through the character of SRK, who played a challenged Rizwan Khan based in the US. The sensitivity that was brought out by the SRK in this character and then in the film, won him the award.

However, it does not mean that Shah Rukh Khan’s bĂȘte noir Salman Khan’s film ‘Dabangg’ went unnoticed. In fact, Salman Khan’s blockbuster won the award for best film in popular category, making Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan proud.

Then, the lead actor Sonakshi Sinha, who played Salman Khan’s love interest in the flick, went with the award of the best debutant (female) of the year. However, in the male category debutant award was won by Ranveer Singh for his performance in Yashraj Films’ ‘Band Baaja Baraat’.

Vidya Balan, who played the character of a feisty rural lady in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Ishqia’, won the critic’s best actor award in the female category. Similarly, ‘Udaan’ was declared to be the best film in critic’s category, while best actor award went to veteran bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor for his pioneering role in ‘Do Dooni Chaar’.

Another highlight of the function was the cute scene of Shah Rukh Khan courting sizzling Madhuri Dixit on the stage. Why Shah Rukh Khan is known as King of Romance was amply clear with the way of wooing Ms Dixit on the podium.

Then there was touching moment when doyen of Indian cinema Yash Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan felicitated legendary Amitabh Bachchan for completing his forty years in the tinsel town.

The show was hosted by new heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan. They kept the audience in splits with their witty one-liners and funny acts. However, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shah Rukh act and Imran’s Salman Khan’s act took the cake among all their performances.

SHAH RUKH’S CHANGING EQUATIONS! NOT STARRING IN KARAN’S NEXT FILM… JOINING HANDS WITH SAJID

One of the necessary outcomes in an actor’s journey to superstardom is the building of a comfort zone of people around oneself as none likes to be lonely at the peak. In Bollywood’s terminology this is known as the making of a camp around a star. Ideally, everyone would want to work in a friendly atmosphere with people one is close to. Stars too are no exception, but given the massive ego that accrues onto them courtesy their larger-than-life calling, they perhaps are more comfortable with a few more assenting voices around them.

For years, Shah Rukh Khan too has nurtured and maintained a similar work environment. Rarely one has seen the actor venture too far, to accommodating untested filmmakers opting instead to work with friends like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra and until a while ago Farah Khan as his directors. Occasionally, when he did submit his talent to a different director in the recent past, it has always been for a home production.

However, call it changing times or changing perspectives in the superstar’s viewing of things, some of SRK’s recent moves however indicate that he is back in the open, experimenting with different directors again. The first indication was good friend and filmmaker Karan Johar’s recent, very quiet announcement of his next directorial venture kicking off with two newcomers. Of course he added that Shah Rukh would be the film’s co-producer. And no discord notes should be read here either in the equations of these two still thickest of industry buddies.

However, time and again Karan had been known to keep on stating that he would never ever think of directing a film without SRK in it. Farah Khan too had been harping on a similar line for years now, until Tees Maar Khan happened with the subsequent fall out hardly even being history. SRK and Karan as we mentioned however remain pals as ever. But the event’s happening was opened to debate speculations on whether it marks the beginning of Karan considering other alternate star options in the future for his subsequent films.

The writing on the wall for those who can see has been quiet evident with Dharma Productions’ casting and projects of late. There was a time when even if a Dharma film was not directed by Karan, as in the case of Kaal or Kal Ho Naa Ho, SRK still had a visible presence in it. While he did a song for Kaal, his indeed was a more influential part in Nikhil Advani’s Kal Ho Naa Ho than its lead pair of Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. A Karan Johar direction of course could never be thought without SRK, their four films’ (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan) success rate being a credible testimony. That’s why when Karan announced his next directorial venture with two new faces, it left many surprised.

Simultaneously happened another development with SRK agreeing to do a film with Vishal Bharadwaj, where the bigger surprise was the fact that it was being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Incidentally, Sajid happens to be one of Shah Rukh’s current bĂȘte noire Salman Khan’s closest friends.

Moreover, Vishal Bharadwaj wasn’t a director with whom SRK has had a very cordial past record. Case in point is an incident that happened couple of years back before Kaminey. According to a source close to the director, “Vishal had sent a script to Shah Rukh expressing the desire to work for him. Shah Rukh had sat on it indefinitely without any response and when Vishal insisted on a response, he had said that the script hadn’t interested him enough. An upset Vishal had then asked Shah Rukh to return the script to him leading to a major showdown between the two.” Things however changed for the better, when recently SRK publicly expressed a desire to work with industry’s new and talented directors like Vishal Bharadwaj, whom he named in his wish list. Vishal reacted to SRK’s favourable review of him as an olive branch from the Khan and both started discussing the possibility of doing a film together.

Around the same time Sajid Nadiadwala had brought the rights of Chetan Bhagat’s latest bestseller Two States for a film adaptation. But when Vishal showed an interest in doing the film with Shah Rukh in the lead, a new problem cropped for Sajid. Being close to Salman and his family he didn’t want to let go his friendship and upset the Khan-daan over a mere film project, even if it was with SRK. Though Shah Rukh told Vishal that he had no issues working with Sajid as a producer of his film leaving the ball on his court regarding if he wanted to work with him or not, Sajid however went to Salman for a go ahead before making any official commitment to SRK. According to a friend of Sajid, “Salman readily gave him the go ahead saying, ‘It’s a different story that I and Shah Rukh don’t get along well, but fact is that he is one of the industry’s biggest stars and doing a film with him will be beneficial to you and your company.’”

Needless to add, Salman’s accommodating attitude was in complete contrast to the way SRK had reacted to Farah Khan’s decision to do Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar. Immediately after voicing her decision Farah was unceremoniously ejected out of SRK’s
inner circle.

Coming back to Two States, Shah Rukh will start shooting for the film next year. Touted as another of his ambitious projects it will not only have him starring in the lead but also joining hands with Sajid Nadiadwala and his company as a co-producer. Now wonder who’s next on Khan’s list to win over in a season of new beginnings and sorting of old misunderstandings.

No "Ra.One" without SRK

Director Anubhav Sinha is pleased about Ra.One being one of the most awaited films of this year. No wonder he admits to feeling a strange mix of emotions. “The anxiety created by responsibility is what people thrive upon. Even though anxiety is considered a negative term, I enjoy the challenge to deliver,” he enthuses, unperturbed by the low performance of his last film, Cash.

Instead, he appreciates the fact that SRK agreed to not only act in his superhero fantasy film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal among others, but also backed it as a producer. “If I make a good film, that doesn’t mean my next will be as good or better. The same rule applies in the case of a bad movie,” he shrugs. Sinha recalls sending Khan a text message to narrate the story of Ra.One. “I wrote to him that I had this story and I wouldn’t develop it if he wouldn’t be on board. Without SRK, Ra.One wouldn’t have been made,” he reiterates.

Robotics
Reports that spoke of the sky-rocketing budget of the film also made claims of similarities its story line had with Shankar’s Robot, toplining Rajnikanth. “Robot released on October 1 and we finished shooting Ra.One on October 11. So I don’t know where that has come from. And to insinuate that SRK stole the idea of Robot to makeRa.One is not only an insult to SRK, but also to the people who suggest this notion.”

He further asserts, “Anyone who reports such stories should first understand the meaning of Rs 100 crore. When you spend that kind of money on a film, you want only the best.”

On being told that the train sequence in Ra.One does indeed look similar to Robot, Sinha refers to the day when he narrated that scene to SRK.

“This is before Robot released. Shah Rukh laughed when I told him of a train sequence. He pointed out that every superhero film has a train sequence. Be it Superman, Batman, Spiderman or even Hulk, they all saved a train,” he explains and wonders, “What am I supposed to do now? Delete the train sequence in Ra.One?”

Sinha reveals that he and SRK have a good laugh over the stories about Ra.One that have been reported in various media.

“If the similarity to Robot was absurd, we were most amused by the news that the costume was made of rubber and cost $1 million each (R 4.5 crore), and there were 27 such costumes,” he laughs. “Hello, 27 costumes worth $1 million each would mean $ 27 million! Just for the costumes! Yes, the costumes are expensive, but not as expensive as has been reported.”

Regaining his calm, he tells us that he and Khan are both amused and happy with all the speculation going around in the media about Ra.One. “We’re pleased to see that people are shocked. In spite of all the seemingly dangerous action, high-end visual effects, huge budget and everything that it has, Ra.Oneis a complete family film,” he concludes.

I look as good as Aishwarya: Ranbir
Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor have a hilarious act in store. While Imran plays Hrithik Roshan from Guzaarish, Ranbir becomes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan complete with a big flower in his hair and a long red ghagra kind of skirt.

Imran seems to have taken his magician role very seriously and when we asked if marriage has changed him he couldn't agree more. "Yes, marriage has changed me. I have become more dramatic now", said the actor.

Also, when we asked Imran what is the one magic trick that he would like to play on Ranbir, he replied, "I would like to wax his chest." On the other hand, Ranbir is super excited about his look of Aishwarya and declared, "I look as good as Aishwarya." You bet!

Sonu completes 20 years in the industry
Sonu Niigam took the audience to a different level when he started his live act by crooning the heart warming theme song from Titanic – My heart will go on. It was undoubtedly an awesome start. The magic in his voice like always, didn't fail to impress and like the original song visual, the stage lit up with aqua marine lights. The singer had a special reason to perform live as it's a special day for him as he completes 20 years in the industry. While performing, he came down the stage to touch Yash Chopra's feet as the veteran director is the one who gave Sonu a break.

It's also a special year for Yash Chopra as he completes 51 years in the industry. He said, "I think only movies. I have no other ambition." Sonu Niigam also sang the song Ae Meri Johra Jabeen in honour of Yash Chopra.

Sonu then went and greeted Farah Khan with a warm hug. He fondly recalls the time in Dubai where Farah paid his taxi fare. Dedicated to Farah, Sonu croons 'Kiska Hai Yeh Tumko Intezar Main Hoon Na' and Farah joins in too. Both then went up to Anu Malik and the 3 of them jam up and complete the song. Then they all go up to David Dhawan and sing 'Jeene Ke Hai Char Din'.

Sonu now goes up to Rekha and Compliments her. She shares her beauty tips. Sonu asked her how do you feel that everyone loves you and she promptly replied, "But those ones you want to be loved by do not love you." Her reply stunned the audience. And everybody knew whom she was hinting towards. Rekha and Sonu then break into the song 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai'. Once again, Rekha stuns the audience by singing so well.

After Rekha, it's SRK's turn. He says, "I owe a lot to singers. Thanks Sonu." Both sing the song Kal Ho Na Ho and SRK also does his trademark steps.

Sonu then heads towards Shatrughan Sinha who goes down memory lane and gives some tips to young stars, "Prove yourself better than the best or prove yourself different than the rest - Shotgun's mantra to youngsters. They both sing Aaj Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.

OFF-STAGE TIT-BITS
I look as gorgeous as the Filmfare Trophy: Mugdha
Mugdha Godse walked the red carpet in a gold gown designed by Swapnil Shinde and said, "I am the most gorgeous tonight. I myself look like the Filmfare trophy!" The lady also posed standing like the trophy. We wonder who will get to take this one home!

I'm sleeping with the Black lady tonight: Prachi Desai
Prachi Desai is very excited as this is her first Filmfare nomination. When we asked what will she do if she wins tonight, the young actress couldn't hide her excitement and said, "I am going to sleep with the Black lady tonight."

THE RED CARPET
Hrithik & Madhavan share cold vibes
Hrithik Roshan and R Madhavan walked in the venue around the same time. The two stars were just a few steps away from each other but didn't even greet each other. We wonder the reason behind this cold vibe!

New hottie in Ayan's life!
Ayan Mukherjee walked in with Katrina Kaif's younger sister Isabelle. While all eyes were on the gorgeous lady who looks very similar to her elder sibling, Ayan took the lead and started introducing her to everyone. Hmm... we see something hot brewing there!

SRK welcomes Arbaaz-Malaika
Arbaaz Khan has just walked in with his sexy arm candy Malaika Arora. Talking about Dabangg and Salman he said, "Salman is not here tonight as he is shooting. And it doesn't matter to me if he wins or not. For me he is the winner. And then we have got so many nominations so it's an achievement in itself. We are not here to applaud just ourselves but also applaud other's work from the film fraternity."

We asked Malaika what can we look forward to after Munni and she said, "These things are not planned. They just happen impromptu."

Once inside the auditorium, Arbaaz and Malaika were greeted by Shah Rukh Khan who hugged them very warmly.

Preity looks gorgeous in red sari
Preity Zinta is looking beautiful in a red sari designed by Manish Malhotra. The actress is excited and is cheering for all her friends nominated this year. When asked who her pick is for the Best Actor Award, Preity says, "Whoever is best will win." Now that's as diplomatic as Preity can get who doesn't want to choose between SRK and Salman, both of whom she is very close to.

Hottest Dhobi in town
The hottest Dhobi in town Pratiek Babbar has arrived with his aunt. While he gets to take it easy this year, Pratiek is expecting a lot of nominations next year for his recently released film 'Dhobi Ghat'.

Another sensational debutante of the year is Shraddha Kapoor along with her mom at the red carpet.

This girl certainly won't leave her Sabyasachi alone.. Spotted in one is Vidya Balan on the red carpet.

The Diva of all eras.. Rekha in her patent sari and red lipstick screams panache at the red carpet!

our Sheila a.k.a Katrina Kaif walks the red carpet this year looking like a dream.

Ravishing in black.. RaveenaTandon mesmerizes one and all with her charm!

Hrithik Roshan enters with his beautiful wife Suzanne Roshan. In contrasting colors, both make a smashing pair

Sonakshi Sinha making the statement in green at the red carpet along with mommy dearest.

Sexy Sam's looking stunning in her beige and green gown! This girl surely knows how to set the night ablaze.

The sexiest guest on red carpet till now happens to be the bubbly actress Genelia D'Souza. She is wearing a backless purple Versace gown with high slits which is making her look stunning and sensuous. Interestingly Sridevi who is wearing the same coloured gown is looking outstandingly seductive in her new lean avatar.

It's the first time after marriage that Mrs. Avantika Imran Khan has walked the Filmfare red carpet. The weight loss has worked wonders on the biwi and she is looking gorgeous in a peach dress. However, the lady didn't have hubby dear accompanying her. And no no, Imran Khan isn't giving the Awards night a miss. He will be actually taking centre stage with Ranbir Kapoor as the host of the grand event. The young Khan is already in and has been rehearsing his act with Ranbir.

Pakistani artist Ali Zafar has arrived on the red carpet along with his beautiful wife. While the singer made his acting debut last year with 'Tere Bin Laden', he is rooting for Ranveer Singh in the Best Debut Actor category. Ranveer Singh made his debut with Yash Raj Film's 'Band Baajaa Baaraat'.

Shriya Saran has arrived looking pretty as ever. The lady is hoping to have a great time at the Filmfare night. Though she didn't have a Bollywood release in the past year, she is looking forward to Deepa Mehta's Midnights Children in 2011.

Neha Dhupia has come to the Filmfare Awards after six long years. The actress who is looking hot as ever in a black & grey dress doesn't have any hot arm candy with her this time around. She has walked in with her mother instead, proving her single status! Talking about her fashion tip, Neha says, "I think its best to keep it very simple especially if you know that you'll have to be seated in an auditorium for four long hours."

It is surprising to see Kalki Koechlin arrive on the red carpet all alone. She made a grand entry last year with boyfriend Anurag Kashyup and certainly Kalki is missing Anurag this year. Expectedly, she is cheering for 'Udaan' produced by Anurag Kashyup, which has received maximum nominations this year. When asked about her plans on this Valentines Day she says, "We both are shooting separately. Nevertheless we will connect through Skype".

Debutant actress Sandeepa Dhar is looking pretty in her lavender strapless gown. But before she could flaunt her lovely gown on the red carpet some guest stepped on it and the actress lost her balance. Thankfully the 'Iss life Mein...' actress regained her balance in a second. A huge fan of Hrithik Roshan, Sandeepa said, "I am cheering for Hrithik tonight and wish that he wins the award for Guzaarish."

Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap has just arrived. The director, who hit the bull's eye with his very first film, is hoping that his film bags a few awards at the most awaited Filmfare Awards night. Talking about the year 2011, Kashyap reveals that he has no release coming up in the coming year but he says, "Wait for 2012. I'll have a release then. I am not sure what kind of film it will be and on what subject. But I'll definitely have a release." Ask him about Dabangg 2 and pat come the reply, "Most definitely, I will be directing the Dabangg sequel."

While celebs make headway to Yashraj Studios to attend the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards, Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit have already reached the venue for a final rehearsal for their special act. Hottie Priyanka Chopra is here too, getting ready to put up a sizzling act.

SRK, Madhuri to perform at Filmfare Awards

The red carpet has been laid out, the stage has been set and the night is finally here, when the shiniest of the stars will head towards Yashraj Studios in Mumbai at the most awaited 56th Idea Filmfare Awards.

Like every year, Filmfare Awards this time too has a special attraction that will have guests and audiences in awe. The award night brings together the gorgeous actress Madhuri Dixit and the awesome Shah Rukh Khan together to perform on some of their most loved numbers together.

The two stars have been taking time out from their 'Don 2' and 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' schedules to rehearse for their act. The two are set to perform on a few songs from their film 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' and 'Devdas'.

A source from the sets of Jhalak... revealed, "Madhuri mam is so happy and excited about her Filmfare act with Shah Rukh. They both are great friends and they had a great time catching up during their preparations. Madhuri mam revealed that they will be dancing on songs from DTPH and Devdas. It's going to be a delight and all of us at Jhalak are looking forward to it."

It's no news that Madhuri and Shah Rukh are very fond of each other. While the lady maintains that SRK is the best co-star she has ever worked with, for Khan, Madhuri remains the one and only Bollywood diva.

The great bond between the two actors has also transformed into a wonderful chemistry on screen and we are sure, watching them come together on the stage for 56th Idea Filmfare Awards will be a treat no one will want to miss. The award will be held on 29th January, 2011 in Mumbai and will be aired on Sony Television on 6th February, 2011.

HC throws out 'frivolous' petition against SRK

The Bombay High Court today dismissed a PIL against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for alleged violation of construction norms as "frivolous" and imposed a cost on the petitioner for wasting its time.

Activist Simpreet Singh had filed a PIL against the actor alleging that a building, an extension of his bungalow "Mannat", a heritage property, had been constructed in gross violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and other rules.

A division bench of Justice P B Majmudar and A Sayed threw out the PIL after observing that the petitioner had targeted the film star only for publicity.

"There are so many buildings in the same line as Shah Rukh's building. Why have you (petitioner) taken an objection against only this building? Simply because he is a film star?," the bench asked.

According to the petition, the place where the building stands was reserved for an art gallery. The state government, however, informed the court that the reservation was cancelled in 2000 itself. Shah Rukh had purchased the land in 2003 and began construction in 2006.

Shah Rukh Khan on 'India First'

Shah Rukh Khan to be the first celeb guest on 'India First'...

There's a new couch in Bollywood. Don't get us wrong. All we mean is that another chat show will hit the television screens tonight on Zee News. And the host this time is Shaina NC - a lady who is not just a fshion designer, but also a politician and activist.

Shah Rukh Khan will be her first guest. So what's the USP about this chat show? For starters, it'll feature celebrities from different fraternities - sports, politics, entertainment, business. Second, Shaina will interview them on their personal couches (read: from their homes!). Last but not the least, 'India First' will have the popular celebs speak about their vision for India.

The other guests who will grace this chat show are: Leander Paes, Nitin Gadkari, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Leander Paes, Mohan Bhagwat, P. Chidambaram, Kumarmangalam Birla.

Now it's Prof Shah Rukh for Karan Johar

Box-office moneyspinner set to produce and star in director's 'Student of the Year' project; likely to play a professor

Shah Rukh Khan will play a significant role in Karan Johar's next film, according to sources close to the production.

The director, who is launching Mahesh Bhatt's daughter in "Student of the Year", has ramped up old friend Khan's performance from a cameo to a much bigger role, most likely as a professor. Khan is also the film's producer.

"Rumours about SRK acting in KJo's next had been doing the rounds but Karan's constant silence about the film started giving people the impression that SRK was only planning to produce the film," the Times of India quoted an unnamed source as saying.

"But actually, both SRK and Karan are co-producing the film, which will launch newcomers Varun Dhawan , Siddarth Malhotra and Aaliya Bhatt. SRK will play the role of one of the professors in the college. The role will not be limited to a cameo; it will be full-fledged one," the source said.

Johar is reportedly taking a month-long break to travel abroad, where he hopes to finish the script of the movie and flesh out Khan's character.

Shahid Kapoor 'rejects SRK comparisons'

Shahid Kapoor has said that he is not worthy of being compared to more experienced Hindi film stars.

The 36 China Town actor told The Times of India that such comparisons are not appropriate.

Kapoor commented: "I feel terrible about the comparisons with everybody because I feel I am really undeserving of being compared to someone like a Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan or any of these people who have had such achievements."

The Delhi-born actor, who has been frequently compared to Khan since his debut in Ishq Vishq, said that he has struggled to get to where he is now.

"There's a long way for me to go and I don't want that pressure on me, frankly. Like I said, it's not easy when you don't have anyone backing you," revealed the former dance instructor.

The actor will next be seen in Mausam opposite Sonam Kapoor.

Kajol honoured with 'Padma Shri' award

Kajol has been awarded the 'Padma Shri' for her contribution to Hindi film.

The Bengali actor becomes the second-youngest person ever to be presented with India's fourth-highest civilian award.

"It's an honour and a pleasure when you are selected for the 'Padma Shri' and I thank all those who thought me worthy of it," she told IANS.

Shah Rukh in KJo's next

In our report dated November 29, 2010 on Karan Johar launching Mahesh Bhatt's daughter in his next film, we told you that SRK was likely to play a cameo in the film. Not only will SRK co-produce KJo's film Student Of The Year, he will also play a significant role in the film.

In fact, Karan, who is taking a monthlong break to go overseas and finish the script of this film, plans to work on SRK's character.

So all rumours about KJo working without his best friend Shah Rukh Khan for the first time in his next directorial, can now safely be put to rest.

Our source said, "Rumours about SRK acting in KJo's next had been doing the rounds but Karan's constant silence about the film started giving people the impression that SRK was only planning to produce the film. But actually, both SRK and Karan are co-producing the film, which will launch newcomers Varun Dhawan , Siddarth Malhotra and Aaliya Bhatt. SRK will play the role of one of the professors in the college. The role will not be limited to a cameo; it will be full-fledged one."

Apparently, a perfect outline of Shah Rukh's character in the film will only be ready by the time KJo returns from his month-long trip. We sent a text message to Karan but he chose not to reply.

King in tights!

Shah Rukh Khan, who will be seen in two of the year’s biggest releases, his home production RA.One, and Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2, had just one release last year, friend and filmmaker Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. The actor often found it frustrating and tiresome to be at home, nursing an injury that he suffered while filming My Name Is Khan.

“I had three screws inserted in my body due to the shoulder injury. Recovery wasn’t exactly speedy. It took me six-eight months to resume work. I missed being in the studios at that time,” sighs Khan, backstage at the recently concluded Apsara Awards. “On several occasions, I thought that I should start on a new film, but Don 2 and RA.One required physical agility, and I wasn’t in great shape at that point. But now, when both films are near completion, I will take on more work.”

The actor, before even making his superhero entry on the big screen, says he is a hit with his kids, Aryan and Suhana. “It’s heart-warming that they feel their daddy is their superhero. They adore me and it’s one of the nicest feelings to have,” says Khan with a dimpled smile. “I run around in tights and underwear at home. When someone says that RA.One is for kids, I tell them it’s not just for them, it’s for elders too. I’ve made the film for my kids and for myself, because I’m still a child at heart.”

Khan’s superhero fantasy will arrive in cinema halls in October. However, right in the beginning of the year, trade pundits have put it atop the list of the most awaited. “It’s one of my most ambitious projects by far. It’s a family’s story, about a father and a son,” says the actor. “The bad guy is Raavan because according to Hindu mythology, he possessed bad vibes. The good guy is Jeevan because he gives life to everyone.”

The actor-producer credits Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish and Goldie Behl’s Drona for introducing desi superheroes in their movies. “Being a tech geek, producing RA.One was the best way to take the genre one step ahead. Indian animators have worked on the VFX in my film. I can proudly say that it matches international standards,” beams Khan. “I’m not pompous. I’ve worked for seven years to create the best VFX team at Red Chillies. And trust me, if I fail, I’ll only try harder the second time round.”
