International rock star Bryan Adams joins a long list of celebrities - including Lara Dutta, R Madhavan, Sir Paul McCartney and Shahid Kapoor, who have teamed up with PETA India to promote going vegetarian.
"If you love animals, don't eat them," says iconic Canadian rock star Bryan Adams in an exclusive interview for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India released just ahead of the multi-Grammy Award-winner's February concerts in Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. In the interview, Adams opens up about how his switch in 1988 to a diet devoid of meat and most other animal products (he had stopped eating dairy products even before 1988) made him feel better physically:
"If you decide to change your life and stop eating all kinds of animal products, you will inevitably see a change," says Adams, who also refuses to buy leather.
This isn't the first time that Adams has helped animals. He has bolstered the campaign by PETA affiliates against Canada's annual seal slaughter, starred in a pro-vegetarian Ad, and he provided crucial support for PETA US' ultimately successful campaign to win landmark animal welfare reforms for the millions of chickens raised and killed for most of the restaurants in Canada. Adams has also lent his considerable skills as a photographer to shoot an ad starring actor Sadie Frost for a campaign against fur for PETA UK and has invited PETA representatives to hold information stalls at his concerts during the upcoming India tour.
And Adams' favourite Indian food? "Vegetable tandoori. Broccolli cooked in a tandoor oven. Incredible!" he says.
Bryan Adams is all set to rock Indian fans with his music from February 12 to 16 at his India Tour 2011.
